Domaine de Villeneuve is a substantial residence on the edge of the village of Villeneuve-sur-Vère.
The property, which would rank as the principal residence of the village, stands in its own private parkland and garden.
The Domaine is a good example of the classic "maison de maitre'' (literally a master's house) architectural style. The house forms one complete side of a three sided courtyard, the fourth side of which is the main entrance with its impressive wrought iron gates and railings. The outbuildings include a large garage which can take up to four cars. The entire property is set on a hillside and enjoys marvellous views of the surrounding countryside.
Domaine de Villeneuve has full central heating making it very suitable for winter letting.

THE HOUSE
Whilst The Domaine was clearly a house designed for living in the grand style, it is still very much a family home. The main rooms are all light and spacious, yet still manage to maintain a feeling of warmth and informality. The house is well furnished throughout with a mix of French and English period furniture.
All in all, "Domaine de Villeneuve" should be viewed as something rather special and will appeal to those who value the house in which they stay as an important element of the holiday itself.
The front door of the house opens into a wide entrance hall with its original terra-cotta tiled floor. Immediately to the right is a large second lounge/dayroom/bureau with a fleur-de-lis decorated tiled floor and hand painted centre ceiling rose. There is a first rate hi-fi system in this room and a second TV/video play.
Opposite this room, on the other side of the entrance hall, is the main sitting-room. This too has a terra-cotta tiled floor (well suited to the hot summer climate). The ceiling is oak with exposed beams throughout. A major feature of this room is an enormous stone and brick fireplace. Double French doors open onto a spacious terrace. There is satellite TV, DVD /video player and a small music playing system.
The terrace, which runs the length of two sides of the house, overlooks the rear garden and pool and has fine views of the countryside beyond. It is a great spot for outdoor dining, with a large electrically operated sun-blind to provide shade during the long sunny days.
To the rear of the sitting-room is a double stone arch which leads to the dining area and access to the kitchen (which is also accessible from the hall). The kitchen is well equipped and fully fitted with modern units. There is a separate electric oven and both gas and electric hobs. Other equipment includes a dishwasher and microwave. The room is well lit with a window overlooking the pool and French doors leading out on to the dining terrace.
Off the main hall, at the rear of the house is a WC and a large laundry room equipped with washing machine, tumble dryer and large upright deep-freeze.
Finally on the ground floor, there is a double bedroom with its own private shower-room en suite.
A wide staircase leads to the upper landing, at one end of which, is the master bedroom suite. The bedroom itself is enormous and is furnished with a double bed. There is an en suite shower-room with WC, basin and walk-in shower. There are four further bedrooms on this floor: - two twin bedded rooms, a double-bedded room and a large bedroom with a double bed and single- this room also has an en-suite bathroom/WC. The main bathroom has bath, separate shower, double basin unit and bidet. In addition there is a separate WC.
All bedrooms are comfortably furnished with ample storage space.
GARDEN & POOL
The 10 meter pool is set in a pretty walled section of the garden. There are extensive lawns where ball games of all kinds can safely be played.

It is under a day's drive from the Channel Ports or about 1 hour from Toulouse International airport (now many flights a day from the UK including an Easyjet service from Gatwick). Budget flight airports Carcassonne and Rodez are not far away. On a wider perspective, the location is central to the Pyrénees, the Mediterranean and Atlantic coasts all of which make for an interesting day away.
The property itself is situated within the Gaillac appellation wine region, about 20 kilometres from the town of Gaillac where you will find all shops, bars and restaurants plus a huge Leclerc Supermarket.
There is a small general store in the village and you are equidistant to Albi and Cordes sur Ciel.
Cordes is not only one of the best known medieval "bastide" villages in France could serve as your centre for shopping and restaurants (one of which has a coveted Michelin rosette)
This is an ideal base for exploring this ancient and historic region. Within a 25 kilometre radius are several other fascinating medieval 'bastide' villages.
Also about 10 minutes away is the ancient city of Albi with its famous fortified cathedral and renowned Toulouse Lautrec museum (housing one of the most comprehensive collection of the artist's works).
